Delightful as the festive period is, when it is over, many of us need to… how can we put this?
Decompress? Let off a little steam?
Or simply have a detailed and in-depth discussion with a sympathetic friend about your in-laws’ many, many, dreadful character flaws?
Today’s Big Deal on a sparkling afternoon tea for two at Cranachan is the perfect pressure release valve.
Dainty sandwiches, cream scones and a chilled glass of pink Prosecco can go a long way towards reviving even the most frazzled of post-Christmas nerves.
Situated on the second floor of Princes Square, Cranachan is an inviting mix of modern design and locally-produced food.
And, with spacious, airy atrium seating, it is great for people-watching.
Inside Cranachan, antler chandeliers and walls decorated by Glasgow’s famous Timorous Beasties confidently set the stage for the contemporary Scottish cuisine served in Cranachan.
Available in the afternoon, Sunday to Friday, the offer is for two people to enjoy afternoon tea at Cranachan, with choice of various loose leaf Suki teas and Miko coffee.
Your sandwich selection includes Mull of Kintyre cheddar and seasonal chutney (v); egg mayonnaise and mustard cress (v) and roast breast of chicken roasted peppers, rocket and tarragon mayonnaise.
After that, it’s onwards and upwards to the cream scones, miniature cakes and, finally, the individual desserts.
The Big Deal also includes a glass of pink Prosecco each, making the afternoon a wee bit fancier.
Cranachan scores a very solid 4.2/5 from more than 400 5pm reviews. Good service, delicious food and the laidback atmos are recurring themes:
My friend and I went to Cranachan for Afternoon Tea and it was a treat from start to finish. The 5pm deal included a glass each of (practically) free Prosecco which was beautifully chilled and served with a fresh raspberry. We had a choice of sandwiches which all sounded delicious and a good choice of teas. Our server was really helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. When she brought the food we couldn’t believe how many sandwiches were included along with a great selection of cakes. Everything was really fresh and tasty. We were able to take home what we didn’t manage to eat. Fantastic value for money.

This Big Deal from Cranachan would be perfect for a shopping trip break; an afternoon catch-up with a friend or even a late lunch.
With a glass of pink Prosecco included, you could make it a celebration perhaps.
