Unfortunately, we have just discovered that Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is not real so we regret that we can’t offer a Big Deal to visit it.
However, today’s Big Deal on a Chocolate Heaven Cooking Class at Glasgow’s Cookery School is the next best thing.
Featuring food, wine and handmade chocolate, it’s perfect for those who are, to use a technical term, choco loco.
Two course supper
Taking place at The Cookery School on Glassford Street in Glasgow city centre, the event begins with a reception glass of sparkling wine. Guests will then enjoy a delicious starter and main course followed by chocolate fondant.
The specific dishes will vary according to what is in season but a typical menu might include a leek and potato soup with roast chilli oil followed by chicken supreme with a mushroom and thyme cream. Vegetarian options are available but must be ordered in advance.
Once you have eaten, it’s time to tie on an apron (supplied) and watch the School’s chocolate master show guests how to make their own chocolates.
After that, with a little guidance, it’s up to you to make half a dozen of your own chocolates to eat on the night or take away with you.
All skill levels
Don’t worry if opening a Kit Kat is the closest you have come so far to making your own chocolates. The classes are suitable for all skill levels. As the School points out ‘Cooking is simple. It only looks difficult on television.’
Great gift idea
This would be a fun gift for a chum and it would also make for an interesting, alternative trip out with friends or family.
So, with apologies to the TV show: Ready, Steady, Book!
