We don’t need to crack open a fortune cookie to predict that this Big Deal will be very popular.
The offer is for a two course meal for two at Mamafubu and it’s a must for Asian food fans.
Located on Glassford Street, Mamafubu is a funky pan-Asian bistro.
Set over multiple levels, the dining room is a handsome affair with large windows looking out onto the street life.
Porcelain figurines of Asian musicians and a golden cat with a nodding paw add a slightly kitsch touch.
Seven days a week
Available noon to 9pm, Sunday to Thursday, and from noon to 5.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays, this Big Deal is for two people to have a starter and main course each from the selection of popular dishes below.
The offer includes a glass of house wine each.
1/4 Aromatic duck to share
Hot and sour soup
Vegetable spring roll
Fillet of beef in Peking sauce
Salt and chilli tofu
Duck in plum sauce
Chicken katsu curry
Steamed king prawns in garlic sauce (£3 per person supplement)
Rice for each diner is also included.
Mamafubu has been racking up the glowing reviews since opening earlier this year.
This one is from the DinerTec in the Evening Times. The ‘Tec noted that the staff were ‘smiling and friendly’. The flavours were bright and finger-licking and he had the feeling that ‘it was all somehow doing you a power of good’.
‘We’d overdone it of course, but boy had we enjoyed it,’ was his conclusion.
The general public have been just as enthusiastic:
‘Great addition to Merchant City. Our second time visiting Mamafubu! Awesome food and great selection of dishes! Ribs and dumplings were fab!’
‘Mamafubu is one of the best Asian restaurants I have ever been to in Glasgow. The service was brilliant and helpful… We went there for dinner, and because we live around the corner, the following week we had a take away from them. The food was brilliant again, and now we are looking forward to our next trip.’
Have you Mamafubu-ed yet?
If you haven’t been to Mamafubu, this Big Deal is a great introduction.
As we mentioned, the restaurant is on Glassford Street so it’s also handy for visits to the Gallery of Modern Art, the Old Fruitmarket and the shopping opportunities of Argyle, Sauchiehall and Buchanan streets.
Of course, it would also be perfect for a night out with a friend or an alternative to yet another lunch in the office.
