If your experience of Turkish food always involved the question ‘Do you want chilli sauce on that?’ then today’s Big Deal at Alla Turca will open your eyes to a whole new culinary world.
Not long after the Pitt Street restaurant opened, the Sunday Herald’s restaurant reviewer visited.
Joanna Blythman wrote that Alla Turca was ‘Glasgow’s top Turkish dining spot”; that its menu was ‘properly Turkish’ and that ‘the food tastes very fresh’.
‘One of the most professional, well-run, assured restaurants I’ve eaten in for quite some time,’ she concluded.
All Time Classics menu
Eight years later, Alla Turca is still under the same management and going as strong as ever.
Today’s Big Deal on their All Time Classics Menu is a great way to taste the dishes that have proved most popular in that time.
The offer is for two people to have a starter, main course and dessert from the All Time Classics menu.
The choice of starters includes dishes such as a melon, feta cheese and mint salad; sesame falafel and humus plus chicken skewers with spicy yoghurt and salad.
Popular main courses include the stuffed aubergine with feta cheese, dill, pine nuts, rice and salad; the Adana-style kofte shish with bulgur rice and tzatziki plus the barbequed chicken shish with rice and salad.
The range of desserts includes a classic Turkish baklava with vanilla ice cream; a fresh, summer berry panna cotta and Turkish delight with a berry crème brûlée.
As part of the offer, diners can choose between a Champagne cocktail or tea/coffee to be served with their dessert.
Joanna Blythman is not the only critic to be impressed by Alla Turca. Hundreds of 5pm Dining customers have also liked the restaurant.
At the time of writing, over 800 people have given the restaurant a combined rating of 4.1/5. This is what a recent diner had to say:
‘Turkish delight. My partner and myself booked here through 5pm, the food was excellent as were the staff will. I will definitely go back again.’ Rating 5/5
