When the sun is shining, Glasgow can easily give Seville a run for its money.
After all, Seville doesn’t have any branches of Cafe Andaluz.
Say ‘Olé!’ to leisurely summer dining with today’s delicious Big Deal on a tapas feast for two at Cafe Andaluz in the city centre or the West End.
The first of Glasgow’s two Cafe Andaluz tapas restaurants, the Cresswell Lane branch has long been a favourite eating out destination in the West End.
Decked out with stained glass lamps, carved wooden furniture and alcoves filled with colourful ceramics, it looks like the interior of a stylish, white-washed hacienda in Andalucia.
The city centre Cafe Andaluz is just as atmospheric. Moorish tiles and lanterns give the St Vincent Place restaurant that authentic Andalucian feel. Add in a lively, buzzy ambience and you could be in downtown Granada.
The offer is for two people to share five tapas plus a dessert each from the Big Deal menu at either Glasgow branch of Cafe Andaluz. The offer is available Sunday to Thursday.
With just under thirty different tapas to choose from, the only tough part of this Big Deal will be making your mind up.
The popular seafood section includes dishes such as crisp-fried baby squid served with garlic mayonnaise and lemon; fresh mussels cooked in white wine, shallots, garlic and finished with fresh cream as well as freshly marinated anchovies.
The carnes section of the menu has options such as spiced lamb meatballs in a rich tomato sauce; sliced Andalucian black pudding with onion and apple chutney or, and this is a big fave with the Big Deal team, spicy beef on a bed of rocket with a Manchego cheese and chorizo dressing.
Veggie choices stretch from the cracking Spanish omelette and patatas bravas via grilled asparagus served with shaved Manchego cheese, olive oil and capers to roasted Padron peppers served with coarse sea salt.
Popular desserts include the caramel cheesecake, raspberry Pavlova and the Spanish cheese board.
There is a supplementary charge of £1 on each of the two prawn dishes on the menu and a £2 supplement on the cheese board.
The two Cafe Andaluz restaurants are among the most popular 5pm restaurants in Glasgow. Between them, they have been given over 3000 ratings from 5pm customers. Those ratings tot up to give them both a whopping combined score of 4.4/5. This is what recent visitors to first the city centre branch and then the West End branch of Cafe Andaluz thought of their experiences:
‘Great, fresh Spanish food … amazing value and the food is great too. You would expect to be rushed out of the door, but in fact the service is second to none, nothing is too much to ask of. The braised pork cheeks are a must, they just fall apart on the plate the meat is cooked that slowly!’ Rating 5/5
‘Great as always. Spent an evening here on a Big Deal, sat outside and our waiter was courteous and friendly. Food excellent as usual and we were even given two free liqueurs as we had mentioned we were here for a birthday meal- will be back for sure.’ Rating 4.8/5
