Some restaurants are rock ‘n’ roll – they are like Keith Richards trying to make an omelette using just two crocodile eggs and a half bottle of Jack.
Others are grand – imagine Penelope Keith in a chef’s hat sternly reminding the kitchen staff not to overcook the grouse.
Urban Bar and Brasserie is more urbane, sophisticated. Among the female members of Team Big Deal the preferred day dream is that of George Clooney murmuring ‘Shall I choose the wine?’
If you would like to enjoy a fine meal for two in one of Glasgow’s more cosmopolitan restaurants then set the sat-nav for Urban Bar and Brasserie on St Vincent Place.
City centre elegance
Once home to the Bank of England’s Scottish HQ, Urban Bar and Brasserie has retained its dashing good looks. With its wood panels, stunning flower displays and ornate cornicing, it is rather an elegant city centre spot and this Big Deal is designed to let you see what they do best.
