Booming since it opened in late 2014, Giffnock’s Catch calls itself a ‘posh, modern day, neighbourhood fish and chip shop and restaurant’.
The newspapers’ restaurant reviewers have had considerably more to say.
The Daily Record’s Gary Ralston reckoned that the fish ‘was first class’ and concluded that ‘This prize Catch is worth the effort.’
Over at The Herald, Ron Mackenna ate a ‘really lovely piece of cleanly fried fish’ and swore that ‘upmarket sit-down fish and chips is clearly the way forward.’
Form your own opinion with today’s Big Deal on a spectacular seafood meal for two at Catch.
Seven days a week
It’s very straightforward.
The vouchers are valid noon to 10pm, Sunday to Thursday, and from noon to 4pm, on Fridays and Saturdays.
A voucher will give you the 5pm Catch platter to share between two plus a dessert each.
The platter features the following fishy delights – takes a deep breath: battered haddock, two portions of twice cooked chips; two scallops, two mac ‘n’ cheese balls, chicken pakora, salt and chilli squid, mushy peas, two catch salads, tartar sauce and sweet chilli sauce.
As far as possible, Catch sources from sustainable, Scottish coastal fisheries which use best practice so you can enjoy your meal with a clear conscience.
For dessert, choose between ice cream/sorbet or a warm chocolate brownie.
We’ve told you what the newspaper critics have said. The most important reviews come from the customers who pay their own money.
TripAdvisor has plenty of diners who are only too keen to get hooked on Catch.
This headline says it all:
‘Super food, generous portions and pleasing atmosphere.’
We smiled at this cheerily tongue in cheek review:
‘Setting the pace in the Southside for contemporary poisson et pommes! Was a bit wary of it being too posh and pretentious when I heard it was a fish ‘n’ Prosecco type place but I was completely disarmed – they’ve pitched it perfectly. Not posh but with a good dose of refinement!’
Vouchers are valid from the 11th of January to the beginning of March which means that this offer could be used as fun stocking filler.
Alternatively, net yourself a handful of vouchers and brighten up the year’s coldest months with Giffnock’s finest seafood.
