‘Glasgow’s hippest dining hub’ is a title that many areas could lay claim to.
Is it Finnieston? The West End? The Merchant City? Or will that cheeky upstart Strathbungo take the prize?
But every so often, it’s nice to dine somewhere totally different. For instance, a stunning ivy-covered mansion surrounded by landscaped gardens and grounds.
‘Yes, sounds amazing, but somewhere like that is going to be hard to get to’, we hear you sigh.
Not true. What if we told you that such a wondrous place existed on the outskirts of Glasgow itself? Namely, the Dalmeny Park House Hotel. And this hidden pearl of a place is offering a two course dinner for two with today’s Big Deal.
Time for a treat?
Today’s deal from Dalmeny Park is for a two course dinner for two (starter and main) in The Garden Restaurant. You will be dining from the 5pm menu.
The hotel has a growing reputation for creating fine Scottish cuisine produced from the best fresh local produce. True to its name, the restaurant itself offers lovely views stretching over the grounds and gardens.
There is also a cosy lounge and cocktail bar to relax in before or after your meal.
This deal is very flexible as it is available from noon to 9pm, Sunday to Thursday, and noon to 6.30pm on Fridays until the end of August. Children are welcome.
Choose from two courses
Menus at Dalmeny Park House can change regularly, but expect starters such as the tower of haggis and black pudding with crispy leeks and peppercorn sauce, and the spicy beef and tomato meatballs with toasted garlic bread.
Mains could feature the oven-baked fillet of salmon with lemon and dill cream sauce, and the tomato and broccoli penne pasta with garlic bread.
Room for pudding? It isn’t included with the deal, but you might find it hard to resist the toffee and banana meringue nest or the cream filled profiteroles.
Relax in a beautiful Scottish mansion
The Dalmeny Park House Hotel is an ivy-covered, lovingly restored mansion set in impressive gardens and grounds.
Although it is handily close to Glasgow city centre, the hotel’s three acres of landscaped greenery offer the perfect ‘escape to the countryside’ feel.
TripAdvisor users have posted plenty of praise for the Dalmeny Park House Hotel, including these recent reviews, which we’ve edited for shortness:
’...Great choices on the menu, really hard to choose. Friendly staff who were great with the kids. Seafood sharing platter for 2 as a starter was super value and could easily have done 4! Portions were generous. Mac and cheese was good too. Was envious of the fabulous looking afternoon tea that was at next table… next time we will go for that!’
‘We ate here early one evening… the portions are large so didn’t make it to dessert. We had Brie and Pate which were lovely and both had cheese burgers – very filling. Great value for money and the staff were all lovely. Gardens are well kept and inviting so will go back and hopefully sit outside for afternoon tea!’
‘We took our aunt to this hotel for lunch. She loved the gardens and hotel and we enjoyed a lovely lunch served promptly and by delightful staff. Hotel was welcoming and well kept. Toilet facilities first class a good indicator of the overall quality and standards of hotel. All in all a most enjoyable experience…’
Dine in style at the Dalmeny
If a grand old house setting sounds like your idea of dining heaven, then whisk your other half off to Dalmeny Park.
Available seven days a week for both lunch and dinner, this would make a lovely summer dining treat, birthday meal or even an anniversary surprise. Plus as you have the option of buying multiples, you could even make it dinner for four.
