Why did the duck cross the road? Because it was the chicken’s day off.
OK, that joke is no spring chicken but today’s Big Deal on dinner at Tempus in Glasgow city centre is definitely one to crow about.
Beautifully renovated and re-opened in 2010, the Grand Central is one of Glasgow’s landmark hotels and it has welcomed everyone from Churchill to Frank Sinatra.
With its stylish murals, the hotel’s Tempus restaurant is one of the city centre’s dining hotspots and the kitchen has won awards for its locally sourced, seasonal menus.
This Big Deal is for two people to each enjoy a roulade of corn-fed Ayrshire chicken wrapped in Serrano ham and filled with a wild mushroom and tarragon mousseline. It is served with creamy dauphinoise potatoes, extra fine beans, cherry tomatoes and a truffle butter sauce.
The offer also includes a chilled glass of sparkling wine for each diner.
Tempus at Grand Central is a hit with 5pm diners. At the time of writing, it has been rated a very respectable 4.2/5. This is what one recent 5pm diner posted on TripAdvisor after a recent visit:
‘Booked this restaurant through 5pm, excellent value for money. Food good and included a glass of wine. Sweets not too pricey either. Food presented in a nice way and tasted delicious. Nice surroundings. We went as a party of 2 couples and had a lovely evening. Have already booked to go back.’
Enjoy a night out
With vouchers valid Sunday to Thursday, 5pm-9.30pm and Friday/Saturday, 4pm-6pm, this offer would make for a great pre-theatre meal; a relaxing finish to a shopping expedition or simply a romantic night out for two.
