The summer months are great for catching up on exciting household tasks like mowing the lawn; clearing the guttering and painting your windows.
Or you could play golf.
Take up today’s Big Deal and you tee up a round on the challenging par 72 course at the Macdonald Cardrona Hotel in Peebles.
Within easy reach
A short drive from Edinburgh and around 90 minutes from Glasgow, the Macdonald Cardona course rests in a very unique setting among the beautiful Borders Hills, skirted by the famous River Tweed.
Available Monday to Friday, option one of today’s deal is for one person to practice their swing on the driving range with 40 balls before taking on the 7010 yard golf course. A bacon roll and tea/coffee in the Spikes Bar will give you a chance to review your game.
Available on Saturdays and Sundays, option two is otherwise the same as option one.
Whichever option you choose, you are in for a great day of golfing.
Of course, you can walk the course but there is also the option to hire a buggy from £27 per round, payable directly to the hotel.
Dave Thomas design
Designed by former Ryder Cup player Dave Thomas in 2001, the par 72 parkland and woodland course nestles into the surrounding countryside.
The course has matured quickly and has already hosted the 2004 and 2007 Euro Pro Tour and both the 2007 and 2008 European Challenge Tour.
Wide, undulating USGA greens and a distance of over 7000 yards from the medal tees make Cardrona an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all levels.
As well as being fun to play, the course is rather easy on the eye. Dramatic and breathtaking views of the Scottish Border hills dominate every hole, while an abundance of wildlife and the generous fairways all
lull you into a false sense of security.
However, beware the famous River Tweed, as it meanders its way through the course and lies in wait for your golf ball on the 3rd, 8th, 12th and 18th hole.
Great gift idea
Sandy Lyle reckoned that ‘The Cardrona course will excite, challenge and thrill. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed’.
We’re not going to argue with him. If you want to treat yourself, play a round with a pal or buy a present for the golfer in your life then today’s Big Deal is the equivalent of a hole in one.
