A former fire station, Ad Lib in the Merchant City re- launched last year after a clever refurb.

With vintage photos of Glasgow fire fighters on the walls and a burnt wood motif throughout, the new decor echoes the building’s past.

Great choice

Available noon to 10pm, Sunday to Friday, the offer is for two people to each have a selected main course and a cocktail.

Diners are invited to choose between the following main courses: mac ‘n’ cheese, burgers, fajitas or salads.

At Ad Lib, the mac ‘n’ cheese is no ordinary mac ‘n’ cheese. This is a whopping four cheese version served with salad and fries.

There are four different burgers – classic Angus beef, spiced Moroccan lamb, southern-fried chicken and Indian curried potato and chickpea with mango raita – all served on a brioche bun with fries.

There is also a choice of four different fajitas: chicken, steak, surf ‘n’ turf or mushroom and pepper.

We like the salads. Especially the honey-grilled chicken with Parmesan, fire-roasted peppers, cherry tomatoes, rye croutons and citrus oil.

Cocktails

The cocktails included in this offer are the classic Margarita or Cosmopolitan or a Pop Yer Cherry: Evan Williams Cherry Bourbon, Cherry Sourz and fresh lemon juice, topped with lemonade.
