If you think that granny gear means baffies and a berm is what your Mum gets done at the hairdressers then today’s Big Deal is for you.
Based on Easter Hill Farm in Stirlingshire, Action Adventure Activities is offering an introduction to mountain biking and a two hour guided cycle trail through the beautiful forests of the Queen Elizabeth Park.
We can’t guarantee that you will be able to perform bunny hops over boulder gardens by the end of the trail but you will be able tell the difference between doing a digger and mud-bogging. Well, maybe.
This Big Deal is ideal for people who want to know if mountain biking is for them and also for the keen mountain biker who is desperate for his or her pals to get the biking bug.
Before setting out on your five mile woodlands trail, you will learn the basics of mountain biking from setting up your bike to effective braking techniques via the best ways to position your body for crossing different types of terrain.
With the basics under your belt, it’s time for a two hour loop through the forests and along the River Forth. The trail is suited to people with a moderate level of fitness. You don’t have to be Lance Armstrong but it helps if your idea of physical exertion goes further than walking from the sofa to the fridge.
The trail is suitable for beginners but, if every member of the participating group has the necessary skill levels, then your instructor can vary the terrain you will encounter.
Naturally, all the necessary safety equipment is laid on.
If you want to breathe deep and pedal hard then today’s Big Deal is:
£19 for an introduction to mountain biking and a two hour guided trail cycle at Action Adventure Activities in Stirlingshire; a 61% saving on the standard £49
