Ah afternoon tea. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
Actually, we don’t have time for all that.
We’re too busy sorting out today’s Big Deal on a Prosecco afternoon tea for two at the much-loved Baby Grand on Elmbank Gardens.
One of Glasgow’s longest-running and most welcoming piano bars, Baby Grand may be tucked away by Charing Cross railway station but it is well worth seeking out.
If you haven’t been before, this Big Deal is the perfect introduction.
Prosecco afternoon tea
Available seven days a week, between 2pm and 4pm, this offer is for two people to have afternoon tea with a glass of Prosecco each.
The menu may change, but is likely to start with savoury treats like pork and haggis sausage roll and the day’s free range egg quiche.
Next up are the sandwiches – expect oak smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, cucumber and watercress on seeded granary bread; rotisserie chicken, rocket pesto and vine tomato on spinach flat bread; and Isle of Mull cheddar, red onion marmalade and baby leaves on white bread.
Sweet treats including mini strawberry pavlova, Belgian chocolate brownie, vanilla custard tart and warm scones with clotted cream and homemade jam round up the tasty spread available for you to enjoy.
As well as Prosecco, guests can enjoy a pot of tea or coffee. The restaurant serves luxury tea by Fortnum & Mason.
Charing Cross institution
For over thirty years, Baby Grand has been drawing customers to its well-hidden location by Charing Cross rail station.
A recent £250k refurbishment has meant the establishment is much more airy and light than ever before.
From early morning coffees to late night cocktails, often accompanied by some smooth tunes on the baby grand piano, the bar, restaurant and supper club has something to offer everyone.
Baby Grand has built a large following of loyal customers and is still attracting new fans. This is what recent visitors had to say on the restaurant’s 5pm entry:
‘Food, service and ambience just perfect… until the next time.’ Rating 5/5
‘Good choice on pre-theatre menu. So much on the plate that a starter and main course was enough!’ Rating 5/5
Afternoon with a difference
Baby Grand is a five minute stroll from the bars of Bath Street and nearby, so this Big Deal is perfect if you want to let your hair down and make a day of it.
It’s also near the King’s Theatre, and not far from the west end.
Grab this afternoon tea and treat yourself or someone else to a bit of a new year get-together.
