Since opening in January, The Mallard has earned a glowing reputation as a welcoming bar serving great food and inventive cocktails in the West End.
With its copper bar, tweed flashes and chunky wooden furniture, it’s a cool neighbourhood hangout that pulls off the neat trick of looking both rustic and chic at the same time.
Flap on over to Great Western Road and dip your beak in The Mallard with today’s Big Deal.
Available seven days a week, the offer is for two people to each have a main course and a cocktail from The Mallard’s menus.
The menus change regularly but typical main courses might be the roast chicken supreme with fondant potato, peas, bacon and gem lettuce or the Andalucian fish stew with chorizo and potato in a tomato broth.
The lamb tagine is also very appealing and the beetroot gnocchi with sage butter, spinach, ricotta and pistachio has plenty of fans.
Happily, The Mallard inherited a top notch pizza oven from the building’s previous inhabitants so they also offer a select range of Neapolitan-style, hand-stretched, stone-baked pizza.
If burgers are more your thing, you can choose between a chunky beef burger, a chicken burger and a falafel version.
The burgers are all served with chips and coleslaw.
Discount shown is taken from most expensive menu options.
The cocktails at The Mallard are very inventive.
Choose between the following:
The Duke and Duchess – a smooth, silky and decadent variation of the Espresso Martini, with a balanced combination of fresh espresso, Kahlua, Absolute vanilla vodka and Baileys
Lemon and Ginger Fizzle – fresh ginger shavings shaken with Botanist gin and pressed lemon grass. Topped with Prosecco for a zesty fresh burst of flavour
Mungo Jerry – for a Caribbean feel, this tasty number has Admiral’s Old J vanilla-spiced rum with fresh pineapple juice, a touch of pressed apple juice and a sprinkle of cracked black pepper
Clyde Sidecar – Great King Street Glasgow blend whisky with Cointreau, marmalade and both fresh orange and lemon juices
The Mallard has been winning lots of friends on its 5pm Dining page:

We started with cocktails, all delicious… Food was good, especially the lamb tagine, the meat was so tender and tasty. Lovely dinner experience all round.’ Rating 4.2/5
