If you think you know Chinese food then Chop Chop in Glasgow will likely come as an enjoyable surprise.
Chef Jian Wang specialises in authentic dishes from the north east of China and her award-winning dishes have appeared on Gordon Ramsay’s F-Word and STV.
Today’s Big Deal on a Chinese feast taster banquet is a great way to sample a wide range of Chop Chop’s repertoire.
Great 5pm rating
Chop Chop started in Edinburgh and has long held an AA Rosette.
Opening on Mitchell Street earlier this year, the Glasgow branch is designed to look like a park in springtime with cherry blossom trees and a trompe l’oeil blue sky ceiling.
It has quickly notched up a great and well deserved combined rating of 4.2/5 from 5pm customers.
Authentic Chinese banquet
Available seven days a week, this offer is for two or four people to enjoy a Chinese feast taster banquet.
All of the dishes are cooked to order and completely free from artificial ingredients. Dishes are brought to the table as they are ready rather than in a starter then main course format.
The two person banquet features nine different dishes while the four course banquet has eleven dishes.
It is all good but we can recommend the juicy fried and steamed dumplings; the aubergines cooked with garlic; the green beans with chilli and the crispy Northern chicken.
As we mentioned, Chop Chop Glasgow has quickly attracted lots of glowing reviews on their 5pm page. This recent comment is typical:
‘Chops away. This is a fantastic restaurant with great food and attentive staff. The variety we had at the banquet was excellent and with it coming straight from the kitchen all dishes were piping hot. It’s a lovely place to sit with tranquil surroundings and nothing too much trouble for the staff. Well worth a visit.’ Rating 5/5
The Big Deal scribbler has eaten Chop Chop’s food on several occasions and it has always been fantastic. There is a place for old school Anglo-Chinese dishes but Chop Chop is an enjoyable way to get a glimpse of Chinese food’s real range.
This Big Deal would be perfect for a blow-out lunch; a spectacular dinner or a celebratory night out with friends.
The mix and match, sharing aspect of Chop Chop’s menus also makes them perfect for dining with friends. You could buy a few vouchers and book in for a night to remember.
There is so much more to Chinese food than chicken chow mein.
Today’s Big Deal on a Chinese feast banquet at Chop Chop Glasgow is a fantastic way to explore the varied and delicious cuisine of north east China.
