Since 1998, this welcoming Russian restaurant and cultural centre has been introducing people to Russian food, culture and vodka.

It’s a colourful, buzzy space that regularly plays host to live music, exhibitions and the occasional outbreak of dancing.

Authentic dishes

Available from noon to 9pm, Sunday to Thursday, this offer is for two people to each have two courses from the Cossachok Restaurant set menu.

It is a fantastic way to try authentic Russian and Eastern European food.

A shot of the house vodka is served with the starters.

Choose between chilled cranberry or hazelnut.

Starters

Borscht – traditional country soup with cabbage, beetroot, tomato & garlic. Served with rye bread & sour cream. (V)

Soup of the day – please ask your waiter.

Shuba – layered salad composed of diced salted herring, covered with layers of grated boiled potatoes, carrots, beetroot, boiled eggs, chopped onions & mayonnaise dressing.

Olivie – traditional Russian salad of diced boiled potatoes, carrots, pickled cucumbers, green peas & eggs, dressed with mayonnaise. (V)

Meat platter – selection of Russian meats served with pickled vegetables.

Salmon blini – Russian wheat pancakes, served with Scottish smoked salmon & sour cream.

Atlantic herring – platter of marinated herring served with potatoes.

Chicken wings – deep-fried chicken wings served with sweet chilli sauce.

Mains

Spicy pork – pan-fried pork loin served with spicy fried vegetables & roast potatoes.

Chakhokhbili – spicy Georgian dish of chicken chunks in a delicious tomato, garlic, tarragon & basil sauce. Served with rice & fresh salad.

Uzbek lamb plov – traditional Uzbek rice pilaf with slow cooked lamb meat, carrots, onion & spices. Served with the chef’s special tomato & herb sauce.

Lulya kebab – Georgian-style lamb mince kebabs, seasoned in herbs, & skewered. Served with roast potatoes, fresh salad & special tomato & herb sauce.

Moscow blintzes – pancakes stuffed with turkey mince & rice. Served with fresh salad & spinach sauce.

Crispy ravioli – deep-fried Russian beef & pork mince ravioli baked with melted cheddar cheese & double cream sauce.

Babushka blintzes – Pancakes stuffed with cabbage, tomatoes, carrots, onions & spices. Served with orange sauce & fresh salad. (V)

Stuffed pepper – Delightful vegetarian dish of sweet roasted pepper, stuffed with fried vegetables & rice, & topped with the chef’s special tomato & herb sauce. (V)
