Why not soak up a little Mediterranean ambience while the sun shines in Glasgow with today’s Big Deal, extending an invitation to enjoy some of the delicious small plates at Brutti Compadres in the Merchant City?
With a glass of wine, naturally.
Taste of the Mediterranean
Brutti Compadres is a relaxed and stylish cafe bar located in the original tobacco exchange at Virginia Court in the Merchant City.
It’s a cool, contemporary hangout, with industrial chic décor and innovative art pieces, boasting a great outdoor seating area.
The Continental menu emulates the experience of sampling delicious local dishes on that Mediterranean holiday. Its wee plates menu takes the Spanish tapas idea and runs with it, on a culinary journey that stops off at Spain, Italy and Greece before returning to Scotland for a few familiar home comforts.
Available Sunday to Thursday from noon until 10pm, today’s Big Deal offers guests a choice of four small plates to share from the Brutti Compadres menu, along with bread, dipping oil, a half portion of olives and a 125ml glass of the house wine each.
The Brutti Compadres menu is split into vegetarian, meat, fish and seafood sections offering a varied and tempting selection.
Highlights include the halloumi with chilli, squid in its own ink, prawns whose mood ranges from ‘peaceful’ to ‘angry’ depending on how much chilli they have encountered, tapas bar favourite patatas bravas, cheese and bacon croquettes, hot chorizo, Spanish albondigas meatballs, and black pudding from that tropical island paradise, Stornoway.
In authentic Mediterranean style, the plates are accompanied by excellent bread and dipping oil and a half portion of delicious olives, as well as that glass of wine we mentioned.
Brutti Compadres has impressed 5pm users, who give it a combined rating of 4.3/5. Recent reviews include the following contributions:

Brutti Compadres is a welcome taste of southern Europe in the Merchant City. Today’s Big Deal offers a great opportunity to share its flavours and relaxed atmosphere.
Timings mean the offer could be used for a leisurely lunch, an after-work catch-up or a pre-theatre bite.
