They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. It’s a nice idea but let’s hope that particular theory doesn’t catch on in surgery classes at medical school.
Instead, today’s Big Deal will gladden the heart, please the stomach, tantalise the taste buds and soothe the wallet.
The Big Deal is with the swish Brasserie on George Square. It is part of the Millennium Hotel and, as the name suggests, the large conservatory windows look out onto the ever bustling hub which is George Square in the heart of Glasgow.
The highly skilled kitchen squad at the Brasserie have put together a mouth-watering selection of greatest hits to feature on the A La Carte Menu.
Included on the menu are main courses such as:
Slow cooked Ayrshire lamb shank with roasted carrots and Dauphinois potatoes
Braised shin of Scotch beef with beer, orange and spice gravy and wholegrain mustard dumplings
Sweet potato and butternut squash tagine with apricot and mint couscous
Oven-roasted Shetland salmon with a red wine sauce, sautéed winter greens and bacon
Vegetarian haggis, bashed neeps, tatties and mustard cream
Pan-roast Guinea Fowl supreme with white pudding croquettes and apple puree
Beer battered haddock with hand-cut chips and a grilled lemon and tartare sauce
The desserts selection includes:
Forced rhubarb fool with a ginger snap crisp
Baked rice pudding with black cherry compote
Dark chocolate fondant with tarragon crème fraiche
Raisin ale cake with a walnut streusel topping and maple ice cream
Banana toffee parfait with a rum sauce and coconut tuile
Selection of Scottish cheeses served with quince jelly, grapes and Arran oatcakes
Sound good. Well, lots of people recommend the Brasserie. The last time we checked, just over 850 5pm users who had eaten there had reviewed the Brasserie on George Square. Put all their review scores together and they rated it a very respectable 4.1/5.
