Available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, The Juniper Scottish Gin Bar comes to life as Cranachan winds down.

As the name suggests, Scottish gin in all its glory is at the heart of The Juniper and they have more than 60 different bottles of Scotland’s new national drink behind the bar.

If you have been to Cranachan then you will know that the venue’s Scottish interior – think antler chandeliers and walls decorated by Glasgow’s famous Timorous Beasties design studio – is matched by a menu devoted to Scottish produce.

The menu at The Juniper is just as focused on great Scottish dishes.

Available Thursday evenings from 5pm to 7pm and Friday and Saturday evenings from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, the offer is for two people to each have a main course from the market menu plus a Perfect Serve gin and tonic made with any Edinburgh Gin from the bar’s range.

The G ‘n’ T is a 50ml, or double serve, with tonic and your choice of garnish. We like the 57.2% naval strength Cannonball, served with a sprig of rosemary.

Choose from the following main courses:

Freshly prepared risotto of the day (v)

Beer-battered fish and chips with mushy peas and lemon

The Juniper Mezze platter – ham hock terrine, hot smoked salmon terrine, cheddar cheese, miniature soup of the day, olives, sun blushed tomatoes, dressed leaves and rustic bread

Chicken breast, haggis and black pudding fritters, creamed mash potato and peppercorn sauce

Scottish beef burger served in a baked brioche with skinny fries

Chicken curry of the day served with basmati rice and fresh flatbread

8oz prime Scottish rib-eye steak served with Portobello mushroom, grilled tomato, green peppercorn sauce and chunky fries (£5 supplement)
