The a la carte menu at the Ashoka Shak is packed with great Indian dishes.

From the starters, we would be tempted by the onion bhajis or the haggis pakora but could see why you might go for the garlic pepper chicken.

The main courses offer a good mix of old faves such as the desi chicken or lamb rogan josh alongside more exotic choices like the pistachio chicken or the Goanese fish curry.

We also like the idea of the ra ra gosht – chunks of lamb and minced lamb simmered in a rich masala tarka with a fragrant fresh coriander.

The lamb chop starter, combo starter, mixed platter main and tandoori selection all have a £2.95 supplement; king prawn main courses are excluded.
