As well as signifying an overblown American rock band with make-up issues, KISS can stand for ‘Keep it simple, Stupid’.
The phrase is said to have been invented by the US Navy in 1960 and was used as a warning against over complicated ideas.
It’s a good principle and it applies to this simple but tasty Big Deal from Amici’s Italian on Otago Street.
A new venture, Amici’s Italian is a warm and welcoming restaurant in the West End.
It is within easy walking distance of both Glasgow University and Kelvingrove Art Gallery which means you could use this offer for a post lecture plate of pasta or perhaps a pizza lunch before strolling around the latest exhibition at the Kelvingrove.
A la carte menu
The offer is for 2 people to each enjoy any pizza or pasta main course from the a la carte menu.
A bottle of red or white house wine to share will help seal the deal.
There are ten pizza on the menu and eleven pasta dishes to choose from. The pizza are stone baked and a healthy 12 inches across.
Whether you want a good, simple Margherita; a piccante sausage pizza or a marittima topped with king prawns, mussels, Atlantic prawns and crayfish is up to you.
When it comes to pasta, well, around the Big Deal office, there is general feeling that you can’t go wrong with spaghetti carbonara but we understand if you would prefer, say, the lasagne or, for those who like a tingle with their pasta, the all’arrabbiata flavoured with chilli, garlic, basil and fresh tomato sauce.
Al fresco dining
This offer would be great for a big night out with friends; a fun lunch or simply a relaxing alternative to manning the stove in your own kitchen.
If the weather continues to improve then you could even venture out and dine al fresco in the heated outdoor area.
Food always tastes better in the aria fresca, as they say on Otago Street.
