Team Big Deal doesn’t pretend to be experts in affairs of the heart but we know that certain words must never appear in the same sentence when speaking to a loved one.
‘Haircut and odd. Bottom and bigger. Valentine, garage and flowers,’ all spring to mind.
Happily, today’s Big Deal on a fantastic Valentine’s package at the stylish Radisson Blu in Glasgow city centre speaks the language of love fluently.
Available for stays from Friday 8th until Sunday 17th February, this Big Deal is the ideal way to whisk your partner off for a surprise Valentine’s treat.
This Big Deal is for a romantic overnight stay with breakfast and a delicious three course dinner for two people at the sleek Radisson Blu on Argyle Street.
A bottle of Prosecco and a Valentine’s surprise treat will be waiting in your room on arrival – sweet nothings always sound better accompanied by the sound of gently fizzing glasses.
An architecturally stunning hotel, Radisson Blu’s rooms make the perfect love nest and are all furnished with heated bathroom floors and mirrors, floor to ceiling windows, free WiFi and other essentials for comfy modern living such as fluffy bathrobes and slippers.
The eye-catching, art-filled Collage restaurant is the venue for your intimate dinner.
The Valentine’s menu is packed with ingredients which, through the ages, have been considered as having an aphrodisiac effect.
We have no comment to make on that score but it looks mouth-watering. Among the starters are dishes like the crab and prawn tian with avocado, coriander and chilli oil. We also like the sound of the grilled asparagus, poached egg, truffle oil and Hollandaise sauce.
The tempting selection of main courses includes pan-fried salmon, crushed new potatoes, wilted greens and caviar beurre blanc as well as a dish of roasted rump of lamb, gratin potatoes, honey glazed root vegetables and rosemary jus.
We are not making any promises but did you know that honey was used in ancient Egypt as a cure for sterility and impotence while medieval honeymooners drank mead, a drink made with honey, to sweeten the marriage.
Breakfast in bed
A full Scottish breakfast in the hotel’s Collage restaurant is included but there is also the option to have breakfast in bed at no extra charge – a Valentine treat doesn’t get more indulgent than that.
After dinner, you may wish to retire to your room but, situated in the heart of Glasgow’s famously lively nightlife, the Radisson Blu makes a great base for an evening concert or a night spent clubbing.
Glasgow’s Radisson Blu is a hit with most of its guests if its TripAdvisor ranking is anything to go by. This is what one recent visitor had to say:
‘Staff could not have been more attentive. Over the years we have stayed at many hotels all around the world but I have to say how impressed we were with the staff selection at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow. We have just returned from a rugby weekend in Glasgow and our every need was catered for from the moment we stepped into reception until we checked out. The bar staff, the waitresses at breakfast, the front of house team could not have been more helpful. Great to see the art of good old fashioned service with a smile is still alive within the hotel industry.
