What do you call a Spaniard with a rubber toe? Roberto!
We’ve got hundreds of them.
Happily, we’ll keep them to ourselves.
Instead, we’ll tell you about today’s Big Deal with La Boca, a popular Spanish tapas bar on Hope Street.
Opened in the spring of 2014, La Boca has been quick to establish a golden reputation for genuine Spanish tapas and has even been lauded by The Herald as offering the ‘best tapas in town’.
Inspired by the old town, backstreet tapas bars of Madrid or Barcelona, La Boca offers fresh Spanish tapas cooked on the premises by Spanish chefs.
Available Sunday to Friday, this offer is for two people to share five tapas and a portion of bread and olives.
There is lots of choice and all the dishes are cooked using fresh, local produce or specialist ingredients which are imported from Spain.
Old favourites such as marinated anchovies; spicy prawns and home style meatballs are all present.
Veggie dishes include fried aubergine with sugar cane honey; proper Spanish tortilla and a great Russian salad.
The seafood choices include chipirones – whole baby squid fried in a crisp batter – while carnivores can tuck into dishes like the black pudding from Burgos in north Spain or the chorizo cooked in red wine.
We’re big fans of the padron peppers – fried Spanish baby green peppers which are sprinkled with sea salt. Roughly one in twenty is really fiery.
La Boca is attracting enthusiastic reviews on its 5pm page. Rated a cracking 4.3/5 by 5pm diners, it has garnered these recent comments:
‘Delicious tapas. Lovely wee place. I def recommend a visit. The tapas was delicious. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly.’ Rating 4.8/5
‘Best patatas bravas in Glasgow. Such a lovely wee Spanish restaurant! Very chilled and the staff are great!’ Rating 5/5
The holiday season may be over but you don’t need to wait until next summer for a taste of Espana.
Tuck into today’s Big Deal and share some tasty tapas with a friend.
This offer from La Boca would be ideal for a leisurely lunch, an after work catch-up or you could use it as part of a big night out.
