The exact identity of the person who invented golf has been lost in the mists of time. Whoever it was, you can bet that VisitScotland would like to erect a statue to him or her.
Of course, you don’t have to love golf to like today’s Big Deal on a 2 night mini-break at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel.
There are plenty of other attractions in the area. Not least a fine spa in the hotel but that golf thing? It would help.
The four star Carnoustie Golf Hotel is situated next to the 1st tee and on the 18th green of the famous Carnoustie Golf Links Championship Course. Many of the hotel’s 85 rooms have views over the course while others look over the charming seaside town of Carnoustie.
Factor in the adjacent Burnside Course plus the nearby Buddon Links and this Big Deal adds up to a golfer’s dream mini-break.
Guests at the hotel can benefit from preferential tee times on all three courses.
2 night break
Based on a Sunday to Wednesday arrival, this relaxing Big Deal is for two people to spend two, consecutive nights in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
A bottle of wine on arrival will help you get in the swing of things while a delicious three course dinner in the hotel’s Dalhousie Restaurant on the first night is also included.
Specialising in locally sourced ingredients, the restaurant has won an AA rosette for the quality of its cooking.
Late check out, up to 3pm, on your departure day means that your visit will be a blissfully relaxing experience from beginning to end.
Extensive spa facilities
The golfing here is fantastic but it’s not the only reason to visit. The hotel’s extensive spa facilities are also a big attraction.
Pamper yourself with treatments from the wide range of spa treatments (not included) or simply enjoy the large heated swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, steam room and, for the more energetic, a fully equipped gymnasium.
Out with the hotel, Angus offers miles of idyllic beaches, untouched glens, rugged mountains and breath-taking scenery to explore.
With vouchers for this offer valid until the final week of March 2013, this Big Deal on a two night mini-break would be a delightful present to find in your Christmas stocking.
Of course, you could just use it spoil yourself with pre or post Christmas break. Did we mention that golf is quite popular around these parts?
There are lots of positive comments left by guests on TripAdvisor. Here’s a recent one from a very happy guest who wasn’t even a golfer:
‘Beyond all expectations. We had a two day break Saturday and Sunday in October. The room was first-class overlooking the first tee (We’re not golfers but I’m sure the course is second to none). Very spacious with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Fixtures and fittings were a high standard and the bed, chairs and sitting area was comfortable. Satellite TV provided along with a DVD player. The food was very good and the staff were courteous and helpful throughout. For us, the piece de resistance, was the gym and pool with luxury towels provided. Lovely walks along the shore with crashing waves was another nice moment among the many. The break was over all too quickly. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.’
