In the 13th century, the legendary Mongol warrior Khublai Khan had an empire that stretched from the Sea of Japan right across to Central Europe.
Become a legend in your own lunchtime by conquering the menu at Khublai Khans Mongolian Barbecue Restaurant on Candleriggs in Glasgow’s Merchant City.
With dishes that include kangaroo burgers and llama kebabs, as well as more familiar ingredients, a meal at Khublai Khans is never run of the mill.
Available noon-4pm, Friday – Saturday and 2pm – 4pm on Sunday’s, today’s Big Deal is for two people to have 2 courses from the set lunch menu + a side dish to share.
There are plenty of conventional menu choices at lunch. Each diner receives 2 courses (starter & main or main & dessert) + 1 side dish from the following menu:
Fresh, homemade, vegetarian soup of the day
Kangaroo Haggis, served with neeps, tatties and a burnt whisky cream
Pork and Prawn Spring Rolls
Asian Fish Cakes with a spicy peanut and lime dipping sauce
Mongolian Beef Skewers
Cumin spiced Wild Boar Dumplings
Sticky Chicken Salad
For a main course, diners can choose 1 visit to the barbecue, where they can create their own unique stir-fry dish based on Ancient Mongol Warrior traditions. Options include a selection of rice or noodles, fresh vegetables, exotic meats; including zebra, kangaroo, chicken + aromatic herbs, spices, oils and sauces.
Each dish is then cooked to perfection on a giant ‘upturned shield’ hotplate, and returned to the diner at the table.
Alternatively, guests can select a main course from the lunch menu. Options include a delicious range of gourmet burgers, pasta dishes and grilled sandwiches.
