What do you get when you cross a boat and a hotel? Today’s deliciously different Big Deal with the Four Sisters Boatel – a beautifully equipped, floating houseboat in the Lochrin Basin.
The Four Sisters Boatel is moored on the Union Canal in Fountainbridge. A purpose built, permanently moored, static wide-beam houseboat with self catering facilities, she offers an exciting alternative to more conventional hotel accommodation.
Don’t worry if you haven’t got your sea legs, there are no currents or tides and sea/canal sickness is not an issue.
The offer is for four people to enjoy a two or three night midweek stay on the Four Sisters Boatel. Additional guests can be added for £20 per person per night.
She is a spacious vessel. A massive 55 ft by 10 ft 6” with 6 ft 4” of headroom, she can sleep up to four adults in the two double cabins and there is also a double bed- settee in the lounge area to accommodate extra guests if need.
Awarded four stars by VisitScotland, the Four Sisters Boatel features full central heating and a superbly equipped galley kitchen. The double cabins are fitted with plasma TVs/DVDs with wireless headphones.
There is a shower room with WC and wash hand basin and there are also new shower block facilities on site. These feature three very large, private wet rooms with changing facilities free of charge. There are also coin operated laundry facilities for your use.
There are some fab bars and restaurants in the Lochrin Basin complex but, thanks to the central location, all of Edinburgh’s many attractions are pretty much on the gangplank. The Four Sisters Boatel has made many of its guests very happy. This is what a recent TripAdvisor reviewer had to say:
‘Unique, fun and fabulous. We stayed here for a week during the Fringe and it was fantastic – you won’t find anywhere else like it. So luxurious – I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many pillows on a bed! The kitchen is very well equipped and the bathroom, although small, has everything you need. The two cabins are compact as you would expect but very comfortable and amazingly well equipped, and the smaller kids (9 & 12) just loved the bunks. The boat is only a 10 -15 min walk from all the shops/theatres etc. in the centre of Edinburgh but there’s so much to keep you entertained on-board that you could happily not leave the boat at all…’
