1973 was a big year. It was the year that Pablo Picasso died and Peter Andre was born thus destroying the notion that the universe is in any way a fair or just place.
Looking on the bright side, it was also the year that the Ashoka West End was founded.
Nearly forty years later, it retains its place in Glasgow’s starry phall firmament.
No-one needs an excuse to eat in one of the city’s Indian legends but today’s Big Deal on a meal at the Ashoka West End means that you have no excuse not to.
Delicious Indian Meal
This bhoona-loving Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a chef’s sharing platter, a main dish each from the a la carte menu with one pilau rice and one plain naan to share.
At the time of writing, Ashoka West End has been given a whopping 4.3/5 combined rating by 5pm diners who have eaten here.
The chef’s platter is most definitely lip-licking and includes a combination of mixed pakora, chicken chaat, aloo tikki, samosa and chicken tikka (veggie option available too). Perfect to line your bellies in preparation for the main course!
Team Big Deal like it spicy, and if we were ordering mains, we would probably go for the South Indian garlic chilli chicken or the jalfrezi. But we’re also partial to the creamy, coconut flavours of the shakuti and the tangy sweet ‘n’ sour of a classic patia.
Great night out
Available for two people, this Big Deal is perfect for curry lovers who want to visit one of Glasgow’s most iconic Indian restaurants.
