From Beethoven to currywurst, Germany has contributed many great things to civilisation.
One which it is renowned for is the passion, skill and dedication they have for making exquisite beer.
Take a tasty peek behind the scenes of a brewing success story with this Big Deal from WEST at Glasgow Green.
Brewing all their beers in strict accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516, this gorgeous micro-brewery has been wowing customers with great German beer and food since 2006.
Tour and tasting
Available Monday to Friday evenings, with limited Friday availability and limited dates in December, this offer is for one person to have a guided group tour of the brewery, followed by a tasting and two course meal from the market menu in the beer hall.
Market menu will be replaced with the Templeton menu throughout the month of December.
Guests will leave with a souvenir WEST pint glass.
During your detailed 45 minute journey through the state-of-the-art microbrewery, the guide will talk you through the ingredients; the German Purity Law that WEST follows and the brewing production processes.
Tours conclude with a fifteen minute tutored tasting session of the house lagers and wheat beers.
Finally, your group will enjoy a two course meal from the market menu in the beer hall bar and restaurant.
Scottish ingredients, German cuisine
The menu changes regularly but typical starters on the market menu might be the oak-smoked salmon with potato salad and pea shoots or the chicken liver pâté with onion chutney and Arran oaties.
The lamb and mint burger with chickpeas, roasted red peppers and yogurt is always a popular main course as is the beetroot and ricotta tortellini with woodland mushrooms and truffle oil.
Desserts might feature the lemon meringue tart with blueberry compote or you could stick with the German-theme and have the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream.
The Templeton menu, available throughout December, has a similar idea to the market menu, however mains may include pan fried fillet of sea bass with soy and ginger, pak choi and sticky coconut rice, or German spatzle, homemade pasta with shallots, Emmental and fresh herbs.
