Nothing beats a ‘hate at first sight’ sparring couple who swap sassy putdowns before falling madly – and unexpectedly – in love. What a lot of people don’t realise is that Shakespeare pretty much invented the genre.

This brand new outdoor production places romantic misfits Benedick and Beatrice at the heart of a world populated by freaks and oddities – a Victorian travelling circus, to be exact.

And anything can and will happen when this theatrical cast of characters get together for a party…

The play is part of the popular Bard in the Botanics festival and will take place in the open air. It is directed by Jennifer Dick, who has put together a quirky Victorian version of the comedy.

You can either bring along a blanket or rent a stool on a first come, first served basis. You are also welcome to bring your own seating, so maybe dust off those deckchairs? (and don’t forget to pack a picnic).
