Downtown Bangkok or The Bund in Shanghai may all seem incredibly far away if you are in central Glasgow.
Happily, you can explore the flavours of the Far East without travelling further than Hope Street with today’s Big Deal at Dragon-I Restaurant.
Based opposite the Theatre Royal in the city centre, Dragon-i is a Chinese restaurant but that label doesn’t really do it justice.
The menu flies from Szechuan to Singapore and takes in most points in between.
Buckle up and take your taste buds for a tour of the menu with today’s Big Deal.
Lunch or dinner
Available at lunch and dinner, Monday to Saturday, the offer comes in two forms.
Option one is for two people to each enjoy a main course from the a la carte menu plus prawn crackers to share.
Option two is the same as option one except it includes a glass of house red, white or rosé for each diner.
Unique Asian cuisine
Popular choices include the satay udon – mixed vegetables stir fried with udon noodles and a spicy peanut sauce.
For something fresh, fruity and spicy, try the Thai gai – breast of chicken with apples and pineapples in a Thai chilli sauce flavoured with fresh lemon grass.
For a dish which is closer to traditional Chinese cuisine, many people opt for the jasmine duck – roast crispy duck on a bed of cabbage and onions stir fried in a jasmine hoi seen sauce.
All of the main courses are served with rice or noodles.
Whether you stick to the more familiar Asian dishes or take a walk on Dragon-i’s wild side, there is nothing else like it in Glasgow.
There is a £4 supplement for fillet beef/seafood and fish dishes plus a £2.50 for duck dishes.
