We’re not saying that the reception at the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel hands out bejewelled crowns with the room keys nor that the bathrooms contain ermine robes rather towelling ones. They don’t.
However, if you want to be king of the castle then today’s Big Deal with the Aberdeenshire hotel could be as close as you get without having to sit through an investiture procedure at Westminster Abbey.
Built in the 19th century and said to be modelled on nearby Balmoral Castle, the Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel offers regal surroundings for some right royal relaxation.
Although it is set in 30 acres of tranquil countryside, the hotel is just three miles from Aberdeen city centre.
This means you can enjoy all the restaurants, galleries and shopping that Aberdeen has to offer as well as having Aberdeenshire’s golf clubs, lush scenery and outdoor activities on hand.
Each of the hotel’s 109 traditionally decorated rooms features ensuite facilities, free WiFi, satellite TV, AC and room service.
Ardoe House Hotel’s chefs serve gourmet menus created from local ingredients in the magnificent Blairs Restaurant. Complete with wood panelling, stained glass windows and an imposing fireplace, it looks like a baronial feasting hall.
After eating, Soapie’s Lounge Bar offers a relaxed spot for a dram or two.
As well as dinner and breakfast, the Big Deal also includes two 25 minute treatments in the hotel’s spa; ideal for a facial or a back, neck and shoulders massage. The indoor heated swimming pool is another of Ardoe House Hotel’s attractions.
Recent guests have enjoyed their stays:
‘Fab! The bed was enormous and we had the best night’s sleep in it – priceless. We managed to fit in a visit to the leisure complex and found the pool to be a good size. We would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay again – in a heartbeat!! Beautiful building, great staff, tremendous! S Hale Laterooms
