Coming up with fresh frights every Halloween can be something of a chore. In our desensitised world, zombies, ghouls, even sexy witches just can’t cut it any more.
So why not combine the Halloween season with that perennial favourite the brewery tour? Scares and ale, together at last.
Today’s Big Deal grabs you by the wrist, cackles that there is no escape and hauls you off for a spine-chilling (and lager-chillin’) tour of the Tennent’s Wellpark Brewery.
Glasgow’s oldest brewery is home to over 450 years of brewing history and has plenty of scary tales to share (and we don’t mean the great malt shortage of 1986).
A ghostly Monk of St Mungo will share a few of the grisly legends and myths surrounding the building in a tour lasting an hour and 45 minutes.
Happily, any shattered nerves are quickly restored with a refreshing pint, a Tennent’s product tasting, nibbles and some traditional Halloween games.
There will be prizes for best dressed so make sure to use your wildest imagination, don’t be a basic witch.
The Big Deal includes admission for one to the tour, with complimentary pint, Tennent’s product tasting and snacks included in the price.
Choice of tour times
Suitable for ages 12 and above (with soft drinks available for under 18s), the tours are on Wednesday 31st October only.
There are four tours with a maximum of 15 people per tour. Start times are 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm.
In the last couple of years, the Halloween tour went down well with the customers who survived to tell the tale. TripAdvisor comments include the following:
‘Was a fantastic night and highly recommend this. We will definitely be keeping an eye out for this again next year!’
‘Had an absolutely brilliant night! Tour guide was brilliant and very funny.’
The Tennent’s Fright Night Big Deal would make a great surprise gift idea for a friend or partner who loves Halloween, loves beer but has never thought of combining the two.
