How much does Glasgow love Italian food?
Well, let’s just say that a recent scientific survey revealed that the DNA of anybody who lives in Glasgow for longer then three months actually begins to resemble fusilli.
Show your love for Italian cuisine with today’s Big Deal at La Fiorentina on Paisley Road West.
For almost 25 years, La Fiorentina has served generations of happy customers with its authentic Italian dishes.
Not for nothing was La Fiorentina the first restaurant to scoop the Auchentoshan/Spirit of Glasgow People’s Choice Award two years in a row.
More recently, it also won the Family’s Choice Restaurant at the Scottish Entertainment Guide awards 2012.
You can taste a wide selection of the dishes which have made La Fiorentina so popular with today’s lip-licking Big Deal.
This fantastic per person offer is for a starter and main course or main course and dessert from La Fiorentina’s ‘Take Me Out’ menu. With twelve starters, twelve main courses and seven desserts to choose from, the only difficulty will be deciding which dishes to enjoy.
Starters range from well established favourites such as deep-fried mushrooms with garlic mayo or the house pâté to interesting fusion dishes such as the haggis Toscano – the finest Scottish haggis served on toast and topped with poached egg and crispy bacon strips.
If you like seafood then you will love the mussels sautéed in extra virgin olive oil with onions, chillies, white wine, tomatoes and fresh herbs.
Vegetarians are well catered for with starters like the Parmigiana di melanzane – a traditional southern Italian recipe made from tender slices of aubergine layers with baby mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, San Marzano tomato Sauce, topped with Parmesan and oven baked to perfection.
The main courses are just as exciting. Try the beef al Chianti – slices of Aberdeen Angus topside slowly cooked with rosemary and thyme, shallots, onions, Chianti wine and wild mushrooms. It’s served with a daily selection of fresh vegetables and potatoes.
Or you might choose to keep it simple with a spicy penne arrabiata. We like the sound of the salsiccia con fagioli, the classic Tuscan dish of spicy Italian sausage, tomatoes and borlotti beans in a special sauce. Served with cream potatoes and Italian focaccia bread.
For a taste of the glam life, order the scaloppini Sofia Loren – escalope of veal cooked in extra virgin olive oil with wild mushrooms and pancetta in a cream and white wine sauce.
The desserts are just as tempting. Will you go for the made-on-the-premises tiramisu or try the Gelato Rob Roy – honeycomb flavoured ice cream, drowned with Scotch whisky and topped with cream and fudge sauce?
Whichever dishes you choose, there is the option to round off your meal with tea or coffee. Guests who buy a tea or coffee with this meal will receive a complimentary sambucca or limoncello – the perfect end to a beautiful Italian meal.
