What tea do footballers drink? Penaltea!
OK, that one didn’t so much hit the bar as miss by miles but today’s Big Deal with Carrot Top’s Cafe by the Saltmarket will definitely find the back of the net.
Tea for two
The deal is for two people to enjoy afternoon tea at Carrot Top’s Cafe on St Andrew’s Street.
Served from noon-3pm, Afternoon Tea comprises hand-cut sandwiches, yummy scones with clotted cream and jam; baked cakes, tea or coffee and two fantabulous cupcakes for each of you to take home.
The selection of cakes varies depending on what owner Lisa McCabe has baked that day. Apple pie, muffins and cheesecake are all likely to put in an appearance.
The big coffee chains have their place but Carrot Top’s Cafe is proud to be an independent business. Along with her small team, Lisa is dedicated to providing her customers with not just great food which is freshly prepped on the premises but also the friendly, personal service that the big boys never quite get right.
Located on a quiet street, her cafe is within easy walking distance of Argyle Street, Glasgow Green and the Merchant City and it also has a lovely view of the restored 18th Century St Andrew’s in the Square Church.
Tea with friends
Ideal for a catch-up with chums, a lunchtime blether with colleagues or a chance to take a breather during a shopping expedition, today’s Big Deal is a tea-lover’s delight.
