Back in its days as a cattle droving centre, Crieff was Scotland’s answer to the Wild West with bandits, cattle thieves and brigands all letting their hair down in the town’s hostels.
Rustling is more or less frowned upon in Crieff today but relaxing is very much encouraged.
Take up today’s Big Deal on a getaway break at Knock Castle Hotel and Spa and you can take it easy while enjoying the hotel’s beautiful spa facilities.
Enjoying panoramic views of the woodland grounds and Perthshire hills, Knock Castle Hotel and Spa is only a short drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh but its tranquil surrounds mean that it seems worlds away from the stress of the Central Belt.
Valid Sunday to Thursday, today’s Big Deal is for an overnight stay in a Lomond Room within the main building or in one of the deluxe rooms in the Castle Lodge, which sits at the foot of the hotel’s gardens.
Designed in the same luxurious style as the main building, the Lodge’s vast rooms are ideal for a couple looking to get away from it all and the building also features a cosy lounge, dining room and a lift to all floors.
A bottle of wine in your room on arrival will help you to settle in.
A full Scottish breakfast each morning is part of the deal – there’s no finer way to prepare for a day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The Big Deal also gives full use of the gym and pool complex which offers a wide range of facilities including sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and spa bath. The heated indoor pool has relaxing views onto the hotel’s wooded gardens.
Each guest can also enjoy a session in the Egg. Unique to Knock Castle, this is a relaxation capsule that combines aromatherapy fragrance, calming tranquil music and gentle vibration massage to take you into a deep state of relaxation.
Each guest can also benefit from a session in the Hydrotherapy Pool – a blissful way to let everyday worries float away.
If you would like to indulge in a treatment from the spa therapists such as a facial, manicure or sea mud therapy wrap, then this offer entitles you to a 20% discount on the standard price.
As mentioned, a full Scottish breakfast is included in the deal and, if you also decide to take other meals at the hotel, then you can enjoy the superb views from the new Rooftop Restaurant. Freshly cooked, local produce takes pride of place on the table d’hote menu.
Look out for starters such as the fresh West coast mussels served with Blackfriars Ale Cream sauce and crusty bread or main courses such as the slow roasted pork belly with braised red cabbage, black pudding and bubble ‘n’ squeak.
Alternatively, open for dinner on Thursdays to Sundays, the classically styled Oak Restaurant at Knock Castle serves a fine dining a la carte menu and a seven course degustation menu.
Typical dishes might be the starter of venison carpaccio with a redcurrant sauce and rocket and Parmesan salad or the main course of char grilled Scottish beef fillet served on confit cherry tomatoes, fondant potato, turned courgettes and a tarragon hollandaise.
Please note that the Oak restaurant has a collar and tie dress code. There is no dress code for the Rooftop Restaurant.
Guests may also venture out onto the Rooftop Terrace anytime of the year where they can enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.

‘Great hotel. Second visit to this hotel and enjoyed it just as much. Staff were excellent and the rooms were very clean. Made use of the lovely hotel swimming pool and will think about using some of the spa treatments when we return. The breakfasts were fab!!
