Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer is a popular song at Christmas time in America.
The poor thing. Had the incident occurred in Glasgow then she could have recuperated with today’s Big Deal on morning Christmas tea at either the very popular Cup Tea Room Byres Road or the more recently launched Cup Tea Lounge on Renfield Street.
Both venues are in high spirits. Cup Tea Lounge in the city centre is a finalist in the Best New Restaurant category at the Glasgow Restaurant Awards while Cup Tea Room recently won an Award of Excellence from the UK Tea Guild.
Both venues have reinvented the tea house for the 21st century without losing any of the traditional pleasures associated with a great cup of tea.
This seasonal Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a morning Christmas tea at either Cup Tea Room in the West End or Cup Tea Lounge in the city centre.
Loose leaf tea
The treat starts with your choice of tea. Cup Tea Room and Cup Tea Lounge hand blend all of our own teas.
From Royal Oolong to White Monkey green tea via Darjeeling first flush, they have dozens to choose from.
To accompany the tea, each guest will have one of Cup’s excellent, freshly baked scones served with butter and strawberry jam.
The good times don’t stop rolling when you dab the last scone crumb from the plate. As part of the deal, you will also be given four beautiful Christmas cupcakes to take away with you in a rather lovely giftbox.
You could share these with your morning tea partner, take them home to the family, give them to friends or simply ‘take care’ of them yourself.
Both Cup Tea Room in the West End and the new Cup Tea Lounge in the city centre are big hits with 5pm users who appreciate their top quality loose leaf teas, scrumptious cakes and service with a smile. This is what a recent visitor to the Renfield Street venue had to say on the 5pm site:
‘My favourite place for afternoon tea. Was celebrating my 50th birthday today and it was made all the more special by a trip to the CUP – they know how to look after people and make your day that bit brighter.’ Rating 5/5
