Ever heard the phrase ‘crossing the Rubicon’?
It basically means doing something that you can’t later change. For instance, you may have felt this way after having one pizza slice too many, when it’s too late to go back and the only option is to undo your top trouser button.
Which is why Crossing the Rubicon is the perfect name for one of the West End’s most creative pizza joints.
Enjoy their tempting menu for yourself with today’s Big Deal for an artisan pizza each plus drinks for two or four people.
Craft pizzas and drinks
Today’s Big Deal from Crossing the Rubicon has two options. Option one is for a pizza and a drink each for two people and with option two, you can double your party to four.
This means that you could either head down to the restaurant for a laidback date or alternatively, turn it into a family get-together or meet-up with friends.
You will each be able to choose almost any pizza from the imaginative menu, including The Germanicus, a rolled stromboli pizza with bratwurst, onions, roast peppers and mozzarella on a tomato base; the Ostrogoth, which is caramelised onion and bacon on a crème fraîche base, and the Vandal, which is bratwurst, crispy potato and mozzarella on a curry ketchup base.
Vegan and vegetarian pizzas are also available, just let the team know at the time of booking. Note that there are no gluten or wheat-free options.
For your drink, you will get to pick between a pint of William Bros beer, a small cask ale, a glass of house wine or a soft drink.
This Big Deal is available Sundays to Thursdays from noon to 9pm, and Fridays to Saturdays from noon to 5pm, until the end of June.
Chilled West End hangout
Crossing the Rubicon is a funky, colourful diner and bar on Great Western Road that serves artisan pizzas and craft beers.
Decorated with mirror balls and flying elephant graffiti, the restaurant offers a relaxed and fun dining experience. Kelvinbridge is the nearest subway station.
This would be a great spot to enjoy a meal before a night out in the West End. You could also drop in after a spot of shopping on Great Western Road or a visit to the Botanic Gardens.
