Coco Chanel once remarked that ‘fashions fade but style endures’.
Having spent forty years making Glasgow’s diners very happy, La Bonne Auberge knows all about delivering stylish food.
It comes as no surprise that the restaurant has held an AA Rosette since 1997.
Located on West Nile Street, right in the heart of Glasgow’s Theatreland, the restaurant has the understated charm and elegance of a Parisian bistro while the food nods to both classic French and Mediterranean dishes.
The Big Deal is available from Sunday to Friday for lunch and is for one person to enjoy a delicious two course meal from the prix fixe menu at La Bonne Auberge, including tea or coffee to finish your meal.
The prix fixe menu changes regularly but typical sample starters might be the smoked peppered mackerel rillettes with fresh grapefruit, creamy lemon and chive dressing or the rich chicken liver parfait which is flavoured with garlic and ruby port.
Popular main courses include the pan-fried sea bass with herb new potatoes and spinach, topped with boiled egg, caper, cornichon and shallot mayonnaise as well as the paprika and garlic scented chicken with warm chorizo, butter bean, tomato and olive salad.
The Big Deal is for a starter and main course or main course and dessert.
Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to dishes like the warm coconut and raspberry tart with pistachio ice cream and chocolate sauce or you could loosen your belt a little and tackle La Bonne Auberge sundae which is made with raspberry sorbet, strawberry and vanilla ice creams with honeycomb and passion fruit.
La Bonne Auberge has received plenty of five star reviews, not to mention an AA Rosette. This is what one recent 5pm customer had to say:
‘Really very nice as always and served us quickly as we were going to the theatre.’ Rating 4/5
