Storms, rain and howling gales apart, it’s been an unusually mild winter. This is no excuse for dropping your guard against winter’s icy fingers.
Protect yourself against the chill with some heart-warming Indian food courtesy of today’s Big Deal on the brilliant tapas selection at Masala Twist Tikka and Tapas Bar on Hope Street.
The sister restaurant to the well established Masala Twist in the West End, Masala Twist Tikka and Tapas Bar is a vibrant and brightly decorated restaurant in Glasgow city centre.
While the decor is eye-catching, the open plan kitchen means that diners can watch the kitchen brigade work their magic as they rustle up their tempting tapas.
Available seven days a week, the offer is for any three tapas from the tapas twister menu plus a sundry dish such as rice and naan bread.
There is a lot of choice on the tapas menu. Familiar dishes like the butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and king prawn chettinad are all present and correct.
More adventurous diners may want to tackle the venison curry, the mince ‘n’ tatties curry or the junglee khargosh or rabbit curry.
Vegetarians are well catered for. We fancy the daal makhani, a blend of three daals cooked slowly over a charcoal fire and tempered with exotic spices and cream. Having said that, the pindi chole or chickpeas simmered in a fusion of aromatic Punjabi spices is also tempting.
When it comes to the sundry dish, there is a great choice of naan breads and paratha on offer as well as rotis, saffron rice, mushroom rice, sweet corn pilau rice and good old boiled rice for those who like to keep it simple.
Make a night of it
Masala Twist Tikka and Tapas Bar is in a prime city centre location on Hope Street. It’s within walking distance of Glasgow shopping hubs such as the Buchanan Galleries and Sauchiehall Street. It’s also ideally located for Glasgow Cineworld.
All of which means that today’s Big Deal could be perfect for a pre-movie curry; a bite to eat before a night on the town or simply a great lunch in the middle of a shopping trip.
Masala Twist Tikka and Tapas Bar really knows how to dish up happy customers. On their Facebook page, a recent diner remarks that it is her ‘fave Indian restaurant ever’ while over on their 5pm entry, the restaurant has the following review:
‘Mmmm Masala Twist. Couldn’t fault any part of my night out at Masala Twist – fab food, great atmosphere, excellent service – all good.’ Rating 5/5
