As we all know, there are three things that make the world go around.

The first is tea. The second is fizzy wine. The third is dogs (sorry, cat people).

Today’s Big Deal lets you combine the two that you like best at Finsbay, Milngavie’s cute and funky bar bistro. 

You can either enjoy afternoon tea for two with a glass of fizz each, or tea and cake for you plus treats for your dog (because pooches like patterned china and genteel conversation too, you know).

Quirky setting

Located on Main Street, Finsbay is an endearingly quirky restaurant, bar and café.

A welcoming neighbourhood hangout, it features retro-chic decor which will bring back memories for anyone who remembers the Sixties and Seventies (or just wishes they’d been there).

G Plan furniture, a Tretchikoff-style portrait and a wall decorated with rotary dial phones set the tone.

And if all this wasn’t fab enough, they welcome dogs too.

Afternoon treat

There are two options to choose from here. It just depends whether you want to bring along a furry friend along or someone of a more human persuasion…

Option one is a tipsy afternoon tea for two, is available 2pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. There will be sandwiches (filled with variations on cucumber, hummus, pastrami, chicken and tuna) plus scones and cakes.

And there will be a glass of fizz each, because everyone knows that tea is best accompanied by bubbles.

Option two is for tea or coffee with cake for you plus treats for your dog, available 10am to noon every day, plus 2pm to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Now, as your canine friend is probably not a fan of perfectly brewed Darjeeling, they get their own special feast. This will include two sausages, biscuits and unlimited water or a specially prepared ‘puppychino’. Yes, we agree – it’s unbelievably cute.

With this option, you don’t have to book and can just pop in on a first come, first served basis.

Since opening last year, Finsbay has quickly established itself as a firm favourite in Milngavie. Taken from longer reviews on Finsbay’s 5pm page, these quotes give a flavour of what Finsbay is all about:

Quality time with a friend (or pet)

This Big Deal is the ideal opportunity to spend quality time with a friend. If that friend likes a natter and a glass of fizz, choose option one.

However, if they prefer walkies and sticks, then option two is probably your best bet.
