Dine in style
Whether you have dinner in The Turret Bistro or the Georgian Splendour of the Auld Alliance Room, you are in for a gastronomic treat.
The table d’hôte menu changes regularly but typical starters might be the smoked Scottish salmon or the haggis bonbon wrapped in filo pastry and served with a whisky mayonnaise.
Popular main courses include the breast of chicken with an onion and mustard cream sauce and the grilled lamb chops in a minted gravy.
After dinner, many guests like to drop by The Keep Bar. Dating back to 1530, it has a large range of malt whisky and many other drinks.
See & do
The castle’s grounds – complete with its own lochan – are ideal for gentle strolls. If you are feeling more energetic, the hotel can arrange activities such as falconry, golf and horse riding.
Of course, the historic towns and villages of the ancient Kingdom of Fife are always there to be explored. As are the area’s rapidly expanding list of interesting distilleries.
Fernie Castle has been welcoming guests for hundreds of years. This is what a couple of recent visitors had to say on TripAdvisor:
‘What an amazing place. What a beautiful setting. We stayed in the Sovereign Suite which was beautiful with a wonderful view from the window. The castle is a joy to stay in, the decoration and furniture all in keeping with the castle. We had a bottle of Prosecco on ice awaiting us… wonderful walk in the grounds… dinner was delicious and cooked to perfection and then drinks in the quaint bar. The staff were hard working, friendly and attentive and made the stay a very special one.’
‘Relaxing weekend. Stayed one night in the Queen’s Suite… the room was lovely, really picturesque. The bathroom was little bit dated, but I loved it anyway, as was part of the castle’s style. We had a lovely walk around the garden and the best bit was the little pub they have. The Knights and Ladies theme is everywhere in the castle and you feel as though you are on a movie set. The service was excellent. Everybody always kind and helpful. Food was nice and served in a lovely dining room. I will definitely come back!’
