Escape to a country estate

Cambo Country House in St. Andrews is a 19th century property set in a 1200-acre estate of gardens, parkland and woodland.

Overlooking the beach and Kingsbarns Golf Links, the house is divided into four self-catering apartments with period features.

Facilities include a shared sitting room, self-service bar, and games room with table tennis, foosball and pool table. Free WiFi is available to all guests.

The grounds include a cafe, gift shop, walled garden, plant nursery, lawns, trampoline, tennis court and woodland walks. The conservation village of Kingsbarns is just a five-minute drive away.

Four-night apartment stay

Valid until the end of July 2019, this Big Deal is for a four-night stay (Monday to Friday) in a choice of self-catering apartments for four or up to nine people.

Children under two can join you for free, with a £10 supplement per stay if you want to hire a cot. Dogs are welcome for a £25 supplement per stay.

You will have a choice of four apartments: The Upper and Lower Servants Wings which can sleep four, or the East and West Wings which sleep up to nine.

The Upper Servants Wing

This attractive and cheerful apartment looks out over the parkland with its mature trees, towards the golf course and sea.

A long row of servants bells ornaments the passage, giving it a distinctly Downton Abbey vibe.

The apartment has a dining kitchen, two twin bedrooms, bathroom, shower room and W.C.

The Lower Servants Wing

Once a home to Cambo’s male servants, this wing has now been refurbished with sumptuous fabrics and furnishings.

The apartment has a spacious sitting room, dining kitchen, two twin bedded rooms that can be turned into doubles, a large ensuite shower room, separate bathroom and additional W.C.

The West Wing

This spacious apartment contains grand period furniture and Victorian watercolour paintings.

The large kitchen/dining room looks west over the parkland while the sitting room looks south into the garden.

The four big bedrooms include two singles, one double and a four-poster room with a bed carved from the oak of a 16th century Dutch altar (now that’s what we call impressive).

There is also a bathroom, shower room and W.C.

The East Wing

Similar to the West Wing in proportion and style, this wing offers seven single beds and a fine four-poster bed.

The large dining kitchen and elegantly furnished sitting room look out over the lawns and a beautiful cedar tree.

The bathroom has a view of the golf course and sea, plus there is a spacious shower room and two W.Cs.

Fabulous Fife

As well as overlooking Kingsbarns beach and Kingsbarns Golf Links, you will also find plenty more to do nearby. For instance, you can stop for a drink at the 18th century Inn at Kingsbarns, take a tour of Kingsbarns Distillery or walk the Fife Coastal Path.

And of course, all the sights of St. Andrews — including the university — are just a short drive away, as are other Fife attractions such as Crail, Anstruther, Pittenweem, St. Monans and Elie.
