The Birdcage bar and restaurant in Musselburgh is offering a five course Hogmanay dinner with live entertainment, a glass of prosecco and a cocktail with dessert at £35 per person; a 50% reduction on the usual price
If you want to bamboozle your friends then ask them to guess where you will be seeing in the New Year. If they answer ‘a former fishing net factory’ then they are probably psychic. Yessiree, The Birdcage bar and restaurant in Eskmills, Musselburgh was once used as a fishing net factory and a cotton mill.
Despite the industrial heritage, these days the Birdcage is rather more glam and the restaurant is set in a modern glass conservatory that looks out on to a spectacular courtyard water feature. The well stocked bar is also pretty nifty. It sits under a stunning glass cupola and has a lip-smacking range of modern and classic cocktails.
The food is pretty spesh as well. Among the main course options on the Hogmanay menu is a peppered venison saddle served with fondant potatoes and a pearl onion and red wine jus.
The Birdcage has a historic setting but it’s actually quite a new venture. However, it’s already picking up good ratings and reviews from 5pm members.
‘We enjoyed an excellent meal at The Birdcage, the food was totally delicious,’ said one customer and we’re not going to argue with him.
