Seriously, does anything in life beat a really good burger?
‘Why yes’, we hear you reply, ‘a trip to Paris on a private jet beats a really good burger.’
Okay fine, but apart from that, biting into a tasty patty slapped between sesame buns is pretty much the best thing on Earth, no?
Throw in a drink and you’re totally in Valhalla. So it’s nice that those lovely people over at 56 North are offering just that with this Big Deal on a burger, fries and drink for two or four.
56 North is an airy bar and restaurant in Old Town that is known for its quality gastropub food.
An extensive gin menu earned it the title of Scottish Gin Bar of the Year 2017, plus it was also Independent Bar of the Year 2016 (so it’s racking up the awards faster than Ariana Grande).
This Big Deal is for a burger and fries for two or four with a G&T, refreshing mimosa or Innis & Gunn craft beer each.
Available Sunday to Thursday until the end of April, if you’re looking for an excuse — any excuse — to head out for a slap-up burger, then here it is (no need to thank us).
The 56 North kitchen brigade cook up a creative range of burgers in a charcoal oven for an added flavour punch.
Choose between the 80z ground steak burger, butterfly cut chicken breast or sweet potato falafel & hummus burger. All are served up in a sesame seed bun with garden leaves and fries.
Topping choices include the BBQ King with applewood cheddar, onion rings, smoked bacon & Bulleit whiskey; the Yardie with grilled pineapple, cheddar cheese & jerk sauce, and the proudly Scottish The Bru with Irn Bru chilli chutney, grilled haggis & mature cheddar.
56 North is a huge favourite with 5pm customers. Here are a couple of recent reviews, edited for length:
‘What an amazing night my wife and I had at 56 North! Everything was delicious and served quickly even though the place was very busy. A great atmosphere with very friendly and helpful staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and I would highly recommend 56 North to everyone. Even though we dined here through 5pm.co.uk it’s very reasonably priced and the bar is furnished with a magnificent array of drinks. We will come back again soon.’
Felt like VIPs as soon as we arrived. We were greeted by Neil who gave us a choice of tables…He made us feel like regulars even although it was our first visit…certainly won’t be our last…The food was excellent as well as the drinks. The gin menu was extensive and can’t wait to go back and work my way through it!!!’
You look like you deserve a little treat. So how does a burger, fries and drink in a lively Old Town gin bar sound?
Available for two or four people, this offer would be great for a casual date night, after-work bite to eat or even a hearty lunch.
