Want to know the secret of a good game of pool?
‘Win the game before it’s played’, or so the saying goes. We reckon that this means you should adopt a positive attitude from the start.
But win or lose, a round of pool is a nice way to kill a couple of hours and catch up with some friends in the process.
And if snacks (or even drinks) are thrown in as well, then even better.
Lucky, then, that those lovely people over at The Ball Room Sports Bar in Edinburgh are offering just that (or ping pong) with today’s Big Deal.
Welcoming sports bar
The Ball Room is a family-friendly hangout just off Morningside Road.
As well as being able to test your skills on the snooker tables, pool tables and dart boards, you can watch Sky Sports events on several flat screen TVs, as well as the 3D sports TV and 10ft HD screen.
Or why not play pro ping pong, have a go on the free Xbox or sit down to a poker game?
An ultra modern jukebox provides background tunes and on warmer days, you can enjoy a beer, wine, malt whisky or cocktail on the sun trap terrace.
The Ball Room is around a 10 minute drive from the city centre and free parking is available for customers.
This Big Deal has various options and is available seven days a week until 30th April 2019 (apart from option five, which is available on Monday nights only right up until 4am).
Children are welcome at The Ball Room until 9pm, making this a great offer for families as well (especially for wet weekends).
Pool and nachos
Option one is for a game of pool or ping pong plus nachos for up to four people. You will get two hours of American or British pool (or ping pong) and a cheese nachos platter to share.
Option two is for a game of pool or ping pong plus nachos and beer for two people. You will get two hours of American or British pool (or ping pong), a cheese nachos platter to share and two bottles of Kronenbourg 1664 beer or draught juice.
Pool and pizza
Or why not enjoy the winning combination of pool and pizza?
Option three is for pool or ping pong and pizza for up to four people. You will get two hours of American or British pool (or ping pong) and any one pizza to share.
Option four is for a game of pool or ping pong plus pizza and beer for two people. You will get two hours of American or British pool (or ping pong), any one pizza to share and a bottle of Kronenbourg each or draught juice.
Menus can change, but pizza choices could include Spicy Chicken, BBQ Meatballs and Veg-A-Rama.
Nighthawks at the sports bar
Or if you fancy a late night get-together with a friend, then option five is for you – available every Monday from 9pm until 4am.
You will get two hours of American or British pool (or ping pong), plus either a glass of wine or bottle of Kronenbourg each (or draught juice) and two bowls of nuts/nibbles to share.
Sounds good to us.
The Ball Room in Morningside has an outstanding overall TripAdvisor score of 5/5. Here is a selection of reviews:
‘Friends night out — brilliant fun. Great night out AGAIN in this hidden gem. Group of 20 of us and were looked after really well. Always a great experience.’
‘Excellent atmosphere. Great wee place to have a bit of fun with the family, brought my two teenage boys who tried the snooker & American pool!! Food choices were great value and atmosphere lovely for a wee coffee or a few drinks, very spacious, well run and a good all round place to be if the weather ain’t up to much. Would definitely recommend!’
‘A warm welcome… you are greeted by the friendly bar staff. It has a warm relaxing atmosphere, and the food is all reasonably priced. Fine dining it is not, but if you fancy a pizza or a burger or some nachos, what’s not to like? There are TV screens all around, so live sport can be watched. Pool and snooker tables abound, and they are well frequented. The place is laid out so that everyone can do what they came in for. Really well laid out. Right behind the bus station, so if you have half an hour to kill, it is in the ideal location for that quick drink.’
Ball Room blitz
Overdue a meet-up with your mates? A couple of hours of pool at The Ball Room would make a great change from the usual pub night.
And as the venue welcomes children up until 9pm this Big Deal would also make a fun family treat that you could save for a rainy day.
Available until the end of April, you will have plenty of time to plan your visit to this popular sports bar.
