Fans of a certain boy wizard take note — the world of witchcraft and wizardry is in peril. And it’s up to you to save it.
The Dark Lord has scattered secret prophecies throughout the Department of Magic and you must find them before it is too late. You are the last hope.
But hurry — the Dark Lord is on his way…
If you fancy channelling your inner wizard (and who doesn’t?), then snatch up today’s Big Deal for an immersive escape room experience at the Department of Magic in Edinburgh.
As this offer is available until the end of January, it would make a thrilling Christmas gift for fans of both Potter and puzzles.
Enter a world of magic
More than just an escape room, the Department of Magic is a truly immersive experience in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
After donning your sorcerer’s cloak, you and your team will enter a world of witchcraft and wizardry where you will cast spells, brew potions and solve puzzles.
As you move through a series of magical rooms, you will be asked to solve wizard-themed puzzles, riddles and brain teasers. All will take common sense, teamwork and brainpower.
You will have 50 minutes in total to complete these magical tasks, recite incantations and battle with dark forces to collect The Prophecies.
The question is, are you up for the challenge, oh chosen one?
This offer is for two to five wizards and is available from Tuesdays to Thursdays. Games will run from 11am to 9pm.
This would make a great date with a difference, day out with friends or family or even a unique Christmas bash with colleagues.
Relax with a butterbrew in the tavern
After you have finished your magical quest, you can relax in the Magic Potions Tavern with a butterbrew each (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).
The Magic Potions Tavern is the perfect hideaway for heroic witches and wizards in need of refreshment after saving the world.
There, you can clink tankards and re-live your adventures together.
Recent escapees have lavished praise on Department of Mysteries experiences via TripAdvisor. We have edited these reviews for length:
‘Excellent, magical and hilarious! Never went to an escape room before so wasn’t sure what to expect. While you wait there are games on every table to keep you occupied or a bar for boozier guests. We were taken through by the leering and mysterious department wizard, ‘Joe’, who was both leering and mysterious. We were explained that the situation was dire and it was up to us to mix potions, unscramble runes and tangle with dragons to save the department of magic and ourselves…Honestly an incredibly fun time with hilarious and friendly staff. Highly recommended and a great first escape room!’
‘Bought this as a present for my boyfriend who is a major Harry Potter fan, although you don’t need Harry Potter knowledge at all for the escape room…it was quite hard and confusing to begin but Prim the host helped us out loads…once we got into it, it was so much fun, however we didn’t escape, annoyingly! I would recommend this for a fun family activity, or for couples/friends! Big shout out to Prim the host who was wonderful.’
‘Came as a birthday treat for myself, came with my mum and teenage daughter, we all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we will most definitely be back.’
