Most people would say that children are the best thing that ever happened to them. We’re certainly not going to argue.
However, even the most doting parents could make good use of the occasional night to themselves.
Treat yourself to a relaxing, child-free break with today’s Big Deal at the much loved Crieff Hydro.
Within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh, this four star Perthshire hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway or simply a fun break from routine.
Set in a 900 acre estate, Crieff Hydro hotel started life in 1868 to offer water cures to its guests. The Lagoon Pool, saunas and splendid Victorian Spa are still a big draw for guests looking to enjoy themselves – only these days the waters are kept at a rather warmer temperature than the bracing chill which the Victorians aimed for.
If you are looking for a little time to yourselves then this Big Deal is ideal. The offer is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in a spacious Executive Room – double or twin. As well as a full Scottish breakfast and bottle of red wine on arrival, guests can make the most of full use of the Lagoon Pool and gym. Your choice of newspaper will be delivered to your room in the morning.
Option two is for two guests to have an overnight stay in an Executive Room but, in addition to the full Scottish break, wine, newspaper and use of the Lagoon Pool and gym, you can also choose between a round of golf; a Segway experience or access to the splendid Victorian Spa.
This offer is for Sunday to Friday night stays. Friday night stays will incur a £40 supplement payable to the hotel.
If you choose to go for the golf option then the 18 hole Culcrieff Golf Club is course is set right in the Strathearn Valley, with atmospheric views of Ben Vorlich and Ben More. With a handful of serious par fours as well as an easy downhill par three of 212 yards, it’s challenging for seasoned golfers but not off-putting for beginners.
Spa for Grown-ups
Open morning, noon and night, the tranquil, adults-only Victorian Spa is the most relaxing place on the Crieff Hydro resort.
Take a swim in the heated pool beneath the glorious ceiling paintings (best viewed while doing backstroke) and then soothe any aches and pains in the sauna, steam room or spa bath. Guests are welcome to hydrate with the complimentary fruit and drinks. Or simply get laid-back on a lounger – reading, daydreaming and dozing are all fully encouraged.
Go wild in the country
If you want to explore the resort’s 900 acre estate then taking a Segway out for a scoot is one of the most enjoyable ways imaginable to see the sights.
There are five quality Scottish restaurants for guests to choose from at Crieff Hydro. Whether you want a light lunch from the Brasserie; afternoon tea in the lovely Winter Garden or a romantic fine dining experience in The Meikle Restaurant, there are options for everyone at Crieff Hydro.
This offer is a brilliant way to get away from it all and enjoy a break with a loved one or a friend. Crieff Hydro has been spoiling its guests for nearly 150 years. This is what a recent visitor thought of her experience:
‘Gorgeous hotel for a peaceful break. Myself and my husband have stayed here several times now, whenever we want to treat ourselves to a weekend break this is our first choice… The rooms are basic but clean… Restaurants in the hotel are outstanding. Dinner was included in our package, but we also ate lunch in the Bistro and it was delicious… The Victorian Spa is adults only, and was a lovely treat, goodie bag as you go in, take some magazines and relax.’
