As kids, we used to think that the best of both worlds would have been going to school in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory and still being home in time for tea and Scooby Doo.
As adults, we’re coming around to the idea that spending the day in the city centre and the evening somewhere quieter is the best of both worlds.

The kitchen produces a fine Scottish and international dishes, prepared from Scotland’s fresh natural larder.

TripAdvisor has plenty of happy reviews from guests at Edinburgh Capital Hotel. We’ve shortened this quite comprehensive review:
‘Good hotel with friendly and helpful staff… ideally situated as we were able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city each evening… bus stop is a two minute walk… staff were very welcoming and check-in very efficient… room on the top floor at the back which had a marvellous view and was quiet. The room was a good size with a sitting area. The chamber maids kept the room really clean.
‘The only complaint I would have is that there was no plug near the mirror to plug in my hair dryer (woman thing!) there is a hair dryer in the room… Used the gym a couple of times lots of equipment but a bit cramped. Nice swimming pool and changing rooms, disappointed that the steam room was out of order. The restaurant was lovely… great choice. Food lovely and good service. If you didn’t want to eat in hotel you would need to get a bus to nearest restaurants.’
