Crisp, clear mornings, leaves falling in Princes Street Gardens and a bracing breeze coming in off the Firth of Forth can all enhance Edinburgh in autumn.
Make the most of this beautiful season in the capital with today’s Big Deal on an overnight stay at the historic Royal Over-Seas League Hotel (ROSL).
Heart of the city
Located on Princes Street, the ROSL is a Commonwealth membership organisation. Although it is a private member’s club, this offer allows you to enjoy all that it has to offer – not least the superb views of Edinburgh Castle which are visible from many public rooms.
The offer is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in a Classic double or twin (no castle view) at the ROSL Hotel. A full Scottish breakfast is included.
All of the rooms are en-suite with comfortable and tasteful furnishings. Each room features a flat screen TV; hot drinks tray; room service and free-of-charge high speed WiFi.
Seasonal & local
Restaurant 100 at the ROSL benefits from uninterrupted views of Edinburgh Castle but don’t let it distract your from what’s on the plate.
If you take the dinner, bed and breakfast option then you are in for a treat. The kitchen makes inventive use of local and seasonal produce. The menu for your three course dinner will change depending on what’s available from suppliers that day.
However, typical dishes might include starters such as the seared tuna with Thai salad and creamed coconut, chilli, basil and lime.
The main course could be something along the lines of the braised shoulder of lamb with haggis rosti; pan-fried girolles and sweetbreads; turnip purée, toasted almonds and rosemary jus.
Or the roast ballotine of cod with cod crackling and seared scallops; smoked haddock potato cake; grilled morcilla and chorizo sausage and salsa verde.
It’s pretty special.
This offer with the ROSL runs until the 21st of February next year which makes it easy to plan ahead. It also means that you can enjoy the capital in the festive season when many special events, markets and artistic street performances make the city sparkle.
