The Caley, as it is affectionately known, has been an Edinburgh landmark for generations.

And its comfortable bar has given locals and visitors a traditional Scottish welcome for decades.

The design is themed on the grandeur of the Caledonian Railway of the 19th century and has overtones of the plush furnishings of the Orient Express.

Four malts

The offer is for two people to join a masterclass tasting of four malt whiskies along with a sharing platter of snacks.

The whiskies chosen will change regularly but each malt will have been carefully selected to demonstrate a particular facet of the distiller’s craft.

A platter of nibbles and snacks will accompany the tasting. The snack selection will include treats such as MacSween’s haggis fritters with brown sauce jus (we are in Edinburgh after all); chicken satay skewers; charcuterie board with sun blush tomatoes and pickled gherkin plus French fries topped with Parmesan and truffle oil.

Tastings can be booked at either 12.30pm or 1.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional guests can be booked in for £24.50 per person.

All guests will be seated in the bar area, with the bartender talking guests through the tasting.
